Artist Statement
My work and creative process step into the supernatural and spiritual essence of our existence. I want to take the viewer through a journey of searching the self, examining humanity and our nature and condition. I seek to bring out the depths of human emotions and the groanings of the soul and spirit. Often my work begins with questions. What is it like to cry out, or to yearn in desire for more? What if your answer in that yearning was a vision? What would that be like? I want my work to be a reflection of a navigation of faith, truth, and clarity, as I reflect on the sensual, spiritual, and divine. I think about color and the composition of lines, form, and space to conduct the melodies that the soul might sing as you look at my work. Where do our sensations meet the spiritual? What truth and mysteries do our sensations and emotions hold? I want to inspire the viewer to go on this intimate journey through the spiritual, dividing the divine and carnal.
